The BC wasn't so bad!
Except for Pine Island's death, I actually enjoyed it!
I was SO impressed with Ouija Board's win. She really is the best Turf mare out there, and she has been for the last three years.
Everything else... Well, the Juvenile fillies were alright. The Juvenile colts, I think, will hold up the Kentucky Derby curse.
The Classic amused me. Invasor was great. Bernardini folded like a cheap coat. Alas.
RIP Pine Island. I so adored her, and she will be missed.
And it is here at last!
Breeder's Cup this weekend.
So, finally, I will be able to stop whining about how weak all the fields are this year (and a few of them turned out to not be so weak) and move on to gleeing about the Kentucky Derby next year. :D
Yes, I will be happy about that.
BAH!
I'm so very over the Breeder's Cup this year.
Really.
I will watch it, but I am not excited (except maybe about Sun King) and I am just... underwhelmed by the quality of most of the fields. Gorella and Ouija Board are probably the best horses running (if one discounts Bernardini as an 'unproven' horse) and that's just sad.
Meh.
Hmm...
The Breeder's Cup Turf or Mile might get more interesting if they actually send Showing Up in either race like they're saying they might. I like that horse, and could actually root for him.
We shall have to wait and see, though. No entries have been announced yet.
Still not thrilled.
I'm vaguely disappointed that Nobiz like Showbiz might run in the BC Juvie. If he wins, he's probably done- there hasn't been a 2 yo that's won the BC Juvie and gone on to do crap ever. If he loses, he might be something, but there's also the chance that the race might ruin him. So many horses that run in the BC do badly after.
And other than the Juvenile races, I can't get excited about the BC at all this year. Oooh, Lava Man. Bernardini, yay, but is he REALLY the superhorse everyone thinks he is? If he was running against Discreet Cat, I'd be excited. But where the heck IS Discreet Cat, anyway?
Feh.
Do I really want to watch the Breeder's Cup?
They have now scratched Invasor. I was really looking forward to him running against Bernardini. I suppose if they run Discreet Cat I'll watch, but other than that I am having a really hard time working up enthusiasm for this year's race.
Usually, by now, I have a 2yo or 2 that I'm rooting for. This year? Bah. They're all getting injured! It sucks.
How did I miss that?
Lost in the Fog is gone...
So many good horses dead this year. Gads, it is such an awful year. I cannot remember a year this bad in so long. Goodness. *sigh*
Point Determined
I am worried. I hope he is not injured! I like him a lot. :(
He's a very pretty horse. :)
Breeder's Cup blahs
The Breeder's Cup is coming up. Once upon a time, I would have been getting all excited, staring at past performances, wondering about the fields, squeeing over my favorites, and praying that they were all entered.
Not so much anymore.
This is going to be the weakest field in years- decades, I think- and I can't work up much excitement at all. With all the recent deaths, it's even harder. Gah. I think racing has lost over 20 good horses this year! How can this be?
Why aren't they doing more to change that!!!!
Why are all our good horses in Japan?
